Level 2 Hallway - Gateway Regency Apartments This long hallway has nicely finished wooden doors evenly spaced along it's length. The blue carpeting is obviously cleaned on a regular basis, the walls are clean and recently painted, and all the lights in the ceiling are not only in working order, but are clean and cheery. A small laundry room at the end of the hall is supplied for tenants use, and is also kept quite clean. Obvious exits: <203> Fire Escape Elevated Walkway Stairs Kale arrives from the stairwell. Kale blinks at Nina in surprise at finding someone here, smiles once, and nods. Kale moves towards the window, apparently heading for the Fire Escape Nina Reynolds offers Kale a smile, a polite thing to do to a stranger, "Good morning." she offers him as she appears to have left one of the rooms down the west side of the corridor and is now heading for the tube cafe in the tunnel that goes over the street to the parking garage. She stops a bit, confused as she looks at the fire escape beyond Kale, "Is there a fire?" she sniffs and looks around. Kale chuckles a bit and stops, just short of the window, seemingly distracted from whatever his purpose was. "A fire? Not that I'm aware of." He looks back towards the window, then steps away from it, extending a hand and a smile in greeting. "The name's Kale. I'm new to this building... Figured I'd take a look around, see what the roof was like. You know... just get a feel for the place." He looks vaguely embarassed by it. Nina Reynolds sees the offered hand and relaxes just slightly and extends her own to Kale, her trenchcoat over her left arm right now as her right hand comes out in greeting, "Kale," she nods, "I'm Nina." she looks at the window and then considers, "You can get up on the roof from the fire escape?" she smiles at the idea, "I only knew about the doorway on the top floor leading up to the roof.. and it has a maglock on it so I didn't want to mess with it and set off an alarm and get in trouble...you don't get in trouble going up there?" Kale shrugs, an easy smile coming to his face. "Oh, I don't really know... I saw the maglock system up there, didn't really want to mess with it much myself. But I thought I'd take a look to see if there was another way. Don't really know if they extend all the way..." He glances back to the window, "I suppose it's pretty miserable weather for that sort of thing, isn't it?" Nina Reynolds nods, "It was coming down pretty hard just a few minutes ago, pretty hard against my living room window. The weather channel on the trideo says its supposed to keep up for some time." she offers a frown as she retracts her right hand from the greeting, "Don't get a cold Kale," using the name he offered, "and keep dry.. kay?" she appears to be wrapping up the conversation, or at least trying not to impose herself on him and keep him from his tasks. Kale makes a small "mmm" of agreement as he glances back at the window, clearly debating postponing his little exploration trip. He raises an eyebrow briefly and turns to face you once more. "Nina, do you know any good places to get a drink and maybe a bite to eat hereabouts? I'm relatively new to the town, and haven't had much besides soykaf and fast dinners..." Nina Reynolds offers a small point and a turn of her body towards to elevated walkway that leads to the parking garage across the street, "The Tube cafe has a great club sandwhich, and they make a mean milkshake.. but.. if you want something more substantial there is the Noir Days west of here a bit and a couple other nice places. The Noir has a dress code though, most men wear ties there." Kale raises an eyebrow at the implication, but says nothing of it. "Noir Days... Noir Days... I think I've heard of that... Jazz club, isn't it? I seem to recall a fellow Jazz enthusiast reccomending it, though I could be thinking of somewhere else, I suppose." Nina Reynolds shakes her head, "No.. I think that's the same place. A bit dim on the lighting." she explains, "I've only been there twice, its a bit out of my price range." Kale smiles slightly, "Would you like to go? Providing you don't have other plans of course... I don't like eating alone at all, and if the music is as good as my friend told me, I owe you one for pointing me in the right direction anyway. My treat, what do you say?" Nina Reynolds looks at the tube cafe, considers her options for just a second. Not long enough to seem hesitant on a personal level to signify any mistrust to this strnager named Kale, but long enough to genuinely be considering a rescheduling of her plans, "Can you give me fifteen minutes to go get a dress on?" . Kale nods assuredly, "I'm going to need to head up to my room and change anyway... just give me a call when you're ready, sound good? Here, let me write down my number real fast." He fishes a scrap of paper out of his pocket, apparently a receipt for a soykaf, and pats himself down until he finds a pen. He scribbles his number on it quickly, and extends it to you. Nina Reynolds accepts the paper with a smile, "Perfect.. okay.. I'll give you a call in just a few." and then she turns and heads back the way she came, down the hallway. Kale gives a little wave, and heads back towards the stairs, heading up to his room a few floors above. Nina Reynolds --------- Nina Reynolds ---------- http://ninareynolds.tripod.com//sitebuildercontent /sitebuilderpictures/nina8.jpg http://ninareynolds.tripod.com//sitebuildercontent /sitebuilderpictures/nina7.jpg The human female which you are looking upon appears to be in her late twenties. Her long blonde hair is straight and simple, without the modern fixations with bright colars or added metalic protrusions from her skull. She's a rather simple and plain looking woman by most standards. Cute would be a good word, most certainly not dressed like a typical city whore or slut. She's looking quite conservative. Current the woman is wearing a very simple black sleaveless dress void of the frills and fancies of the clothing world. The elegant curve of her figure is what is accentuated, not the fame of the designer. ------------------------------------------ Carrying: Secure Long Coat Shoulderbag You dial the numbers.... Ringing... The phone is answered in audio-only mode by someone on the other end. From the phone, the speaker says "Hello?". You convey] Over the phone, the speaker speaks into the phone in a soft and timid voice, "Hello Kale?.. this is Nina.. I'm ready.. I'm down in the lobby." Over the phone, the speaker responds with a happy tone of voice, "Great! I'll be right down. See you there." You hang up the Nina Reynolds's cellular phone Kale enters the lobby from the stairs. Kale smiles at Nina as he enters from the stairwell, waving in greeting. "Hi again! Ready to head out?" Nina Reynolds turns to the stairwell from her postion near the exit doors in the lobby, her trenchcoat already on to protect her from the rain. Her dress beneath concealed from view right now, but her hair is done up real nice, "I'm ready.. can we take a taxi?" secretly wanting to take a taxi rather than walk or take car, in case he's some sort of stalker person that could jump her when they're alone. Kale smiles, understanding, "Sure, no problem. It would probably be a little cramped on my bike anyway, and in this rain..." He trails off. "Will the taxi be able to get there? I've noticed the drivers hereabouts can be kind of selective..." Nina Reynolds nods to Kale as she moves to the door and pushes it up, lifting her umbrella upward and opening it as she steps out, "It should I think." Kale arrives from the apartment building. Nina Reynolds waves down a taxi and it pulls up next to the curb. Her left hand holds her umbrella as her eyes scan the area. She looks up to the tube cafe crossing over the street, the parking garage, and an alley down the street. She seems a bit on edge being out here in the open. Kale steps out into the rain, pulling his collar up to protect him from the worst of it and looks at you with a smile. He gestures grandiosely to the cab, catching and following your gaze around the area. Seeing nothing to concern him, he looks back to you. "After you, I'm sure." Nina Reynolds smiles to Kale and then steps forward and opens the taxi door. With a smooth action she closes her umbrellas and climbs inside, sliding over to make room for Kale. Yellow Cab The interior of the taxi is not much better than the exterior. The cabby is a hispanic asian with a chinese accent, and he has a smoking habit that should have killed him ten years ago............ Kale enters the taxi, and closes the door. Nina Reynolds forks over the nuyen, and the cabbie says, "Alright...here we are, Montcalm St.." Kale smiles and looks out the window at the club. "Looks like a nice enough place from the outside..." He leaves the cab quickly, holding the door for you on the way out. Kale has left. Nina Reynolds sits back for the ride after telling the cabbie where they're going and he starts on the way, "You dress up nice." she says to Kale with a smile, "This is a pleasant surprise, the last thing on my mind tonight was a date." Nina Reynolds sits back for the ride after telling the cabbie where they're going and he starts on the way, "You dress up nice." she says to Kale with a smile, "This is a pleasant surprise, the last thing on my mind tonight was a date." Nina Reynolds gets out when the cab stops. Kale chuckles, "Why thank you. I must admit, I didn't plan on it either, but sometimes those are the best, yes? The unexpected can be a thrill, I think..." He extends his elbow in a gentlemanly manner, to lead you towards the door. "Shall we make our appearances?" Nina Reynolds lifts up and opens her umbrella as she exits the cab after payment and steps up next to Kale, "No offense, but last night I took some guys arm that was offered to me and he led me near the mouth of an alley and got real spooky on me.. I'm still sort of freaked about it.. He had my arm and I couldn't get away from him." she looks upset still just thinking about it, as if scared to be overpowered again if she slipped her hand up in the crook of Kales arm. Kale blinks with surprise, and retracts his arm. Although his face betrays his disappointment, it also shows the utter shock that someone would attempt such a horrible thing. "I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to rub salt in any wounds..." He looks flustered for a moment, unsure of what to say or do, then smiles slightly, extending his arm towards the door. "Come then, let us eat, drink, be merry, and forget horrible horrible occurances." Nina Reynolds nods quickly to Kale, it seems he's said just the perfect thing to her and just what she wanted to hear. His reaction also to her turmoil of the night before seems also comforting to her as she moves with him towards the Noir Days entrance. Shortly they are at the door and as they step under the overhand walkway Nina lowers her umbrella and closes it as she steps past the first bouncer outside and then moves inside. You slide through the black glass doors of Noir Days, under the scrutiny of the bouncers. Entrance - Noir Days Obvious exits: Main Club Security Office Out Kale enters from the street. >OOC< Nina Reynolds says, "Is there a guncheck? What type of rules apply here? Looking for help files." Kale says, "guns are prohibited, but there isn't a check... to do so would be... offensive... to the customers. Instead its a trust thing, and they ask you to check it at the security office if you have one." >OOC< Nina Reynolds says, "roger that." Kale smiles at the Ork security guard who eyes him suspiciously. He opens his trenchcoat slightly to show that he has no weapons, and discreetly tips the bouncer, with a wink and a smile. He turns to you with a grin, holding the door, "Shall we?" Nina Reynolds stops just inside the door at the security check and opens up her trenchcoat. She reaches to the small of her back and removes a narcoject pistol and lays it on the security counter, as well as a shock glove from a pocket inside her longcoat. The woman also produces a SIN credstick with an emblem of some sort <+roll intelligence> on the side of it to verifty permits for the weapons and then also hands over her trenchcoat to be checked and held for her. As these things are being checked in she also hands over her umbrella and is then given a claim stub for her things. Kale says, "what's the TN of that roll?" >OOC< Nina Reynolds says, "4" Kale rolls 5 dice against a TN 4: 2 3 3 4 4 (2 successes) Nina's Credstick: The credstick has an emblem on the side of it which is recognized as the company logo for Nina Reynolds smooths out her black dress at a couple wrinkles caused by the heavy trenchcoat and the short taxi ride, "Yes please.. I really needed this more than I thought." and she follows. Main Club - Noir Days Sleek and elegant are the words that come to mind when you enter the main club of Noir Days. It's dark in here and the clientele seems to like it that way. The walls are shiny black, the majority of light coming from two thin strips of red neon runing along the walls at waist level, then again where the walls meet the ceiling. One single candle illuminates each table in a tall red glass holders, the carpet also colored a deep rich red. The main bar sits to the right of the entrance way - a long slick black entity with a brass bar at floor level, and again at the top. Behind the bar are stacked bottles holding every imaginable liquor, reflected off of the mirror behind. A small raised stage sits against the back wall, directly opposite the entrance way. It is illuminated with moody red, blue, and green spotlights. Frequently there will be jazz ensembles playing there - everything from bebop to cool. This place is chill, way chill. Obvious exits: Black Door Back Room
Out Kale enters the club from the entrance way. Kale enters the room, stepping to the side briefly to allow his eyes to adjust to the murky interior. His foot immediately catches the beat from the band on stage, and he taps rhythm along with the drummer on his leg with idle fingers. A smile of contentment toys with his lips as he listens, and he looks at Nina with a wink. "Where shall we sit?" Nina Reynolds is standing close to Kale now, but a small buffer which signifies its not an intimate relationship as she leans in a bit closer to speak quietly with him, "Perhaps we could sit near the stage.. is that okay?" she looks to Kale and to his lips, just in case the music playing prevents her from hearing his response properly. Kale nods, "I was going to suggest the same thing, if you didn't. I'm quite fond of Jazz, actually, so the closer the better." He gestures for her to preceed him to the table. "After you." Nina Reynolds accepts the offer and moves off towards the table. A slender woman without much meat to her bones, she's not gaunt or anorexic like a model, but her sleaveless arms in her simple black dress lack the sculpting of someone whom frequents the gym. At best she looks like she might be a runner, or in city terms.. a tread-mill'r . Her hair accenturates her neck on this early morning hour, accompanied with the dress and the lighting, this average looking girl with a pretty face takes on a whole new light of near elegance. She stops at the table and stands next to one of the chairs, allowing time for Kale to pull her chair out for her as she looks at the stage very near them now, in case Kale doesn't pull her chair for her this way it won't look as if he forgot, but mearly that she was standing and hesitating while watching the band. Kale moves behind her in the dim light of the room, still bobbing his head in time to the music. Reaching the table, he gracefully moves to the chair she stands next to and smiles with a wink as he pulls it out for her. Once he has her seated he moves to a chair opposite her and sits, so as not to make her uncomfortable with too much nearness. He watches her for a moment, taking in the sight of you and seemingly stunned by your apperance, though never lingering long enough to be inappropriate. He leans closer to be heard over the music, "You look absolutely amazing..." then blushes slightly, and looks to the stage to cover his brief embarassment. A pleasant smile slips across Nina's lips at the compliment and she speaks just loud enough to be heard, "Thank you very much." It seem sthe compliment does not fall on deaf ears, this woman is not a stuck up snob used to such compliments and it is appreciated and looks to make her more relaxed that her quick 'fix up' turned out okay for the insta-date. Nina places her simple small black purse on the table near the tall red candle holder, "I'm not a real big jazz fan per say.. but this sure is nice." she offers additional explination, "Sometimes the world passes you by without being noticed," she looks to the nearby band, "it's nice." Kale looks back at her, smiling as he notices the effect his compliment had, and drinking in the effect as the smile lights her face. He catches the attention of a waiter as they sit there listening, and explains as the man makes his way to their table. "I was started on Jazz early. My parents are big fans, so it's what I grew up listening to. Actually, they probably enjoyed this very club. They lived around here when they were younger." He looks up as the waiter finds his way to the table, and idly brushes a stray lock of hair out of his face. "Ah yes. I'll have a Dirty Girl Scout, and for the lady..." he trails off and looks at her with a raised eyebrow. Nina Reynolds says, "rolling willpower" Nina Reynolds rolls 6 dice: 2 3 3 7 14 16 Nina Reynolds manages to keep from snorting as she hears the name of Kale's drink he ordered and instead smooths the look over into a relaxed smile as she looks to the waiter and orders her drink in a calm voice as if she's enjoying every second of the experience here in the Noir Days, "A pint of Guiness please." and then turns to Kale as the waiter moves off with their two drink order, "If your parents grew up here in Detroit.. where'd they move off to when they raised you?" she inquires in a non probing sort of way, more of an inquisative polite chat. Kale makes a face, "Seattle actually... It was a decent enough life I suppose, but I felt the need to return here... Just, I don't know. I suppose you could say I felt "called" though that's not really true." He frowns slightly, listening to the band wrap up one song and start in on the next. "My parents didn't really approve of the move back here, but they felt I needed to live my own life, so..." Nina Reynolds nods slowly as she listens, learning about this fellow Gateway Regency apartment resident that she knows lives somewhere in the floors above her own apartment, "You probably still have relatives in this area then if your parents are from here eh?" Kale thinks about it for a moment. "Probably, though I don't really know... I gather that my parents marrying was something of a family disgrace, or some such. They don't really speak of any relatives I might have." He looks at you for a moment, then explains further, "My mother was an elf you see, and my father just a human, like me. My mother's family felt she was marrying beneath herself, and my fathers felt that an elf marrying into the family was a disgrace..." Nina Reynolds grimices at the details as they come forth, her eyes showing a deep level of care for this man across the table from her, or more accurately described as care for such a horribly terrible situation to be put in, "Ouch," she responds, lacking the skills to put her feelings to words apty (OOC: Etiquette skill: 3), "It's truely a shame that two people in love have to work through those type of problems. Life is confusing enough to have to go through it without the support of a family." Kale chuckles, waving aside the discomfort of the moment with an amused look. "Don't concern yourself with it too much. I doubt they would have had much support from their families in any event. The reason they left the city for Seattle was to start anew completely. They weren't exactly living on the... light side of the law, shall we say? They left that all behind them to raise me... felt it wasn't an appropriate environment to raise a child in." He smiles at you as charmingly as he can "But enough about me. What about you, I want to know everything about this gorgeous neighbor I have found myself to have..." Kale would imagine it would be your Intelligence, Willpower, or perhaps Etiquette skill, depending on how she reacts to the situation... :) Nina Reynolds says, "not Intelligence.. that would be some technical or intillectual reponse I think.. Etiquette would be a sort of fake type social mask response.. Willpower.. yeah.. let's use that, cuz its a personal type link. Willpower is 6." Kale rolls 6 dice against a TN 6: 1 2 3 4 5 10 (1 success) Nina Reynolds listens to Kale, understanding more fully now of Kale childhood, his parents and the love they had to raise their child in a good environment. Her eyes show a growing level of appreciation for the man at the table with her and she's about to respond as the drinks are delivered. The waiter drops off two menus and explains, "I'll return shortly for your orders." and then he's gone again. Nina leaves the menu closed for the time being, intent on the conversation but a touch hesitant as it now turns toward herself, she pauses a moment and then explains, "I was born and raised in Dearborn.. not far from here. My father is a security guard at Ford Motor company and my mother is a highschool teacher. I've been working for Wolverine Security Company since Highschool, working my way up in the technical and design branch in corporate and small business applications." her hands rest relaxed on the menu before her, her ring finger bare and free of any symbol of marraige. Kale brushes the stray lock out of his eyes again, as he listens. His face showing his interest in what is being said. "Securities, eh? I've always thought that must be interesting work. Even gave some thought about going into it myself, though my skills lie in areas other than the meatside part of security." He idly taps the glittering datajack in his temple. "What do you like best about the job?" Nina Reynolds puts the menu to the side and rests her hands around the pint of Guiness, the thick foam atop the black drink barely moving as its slid in front of her on the table, her eyes moving towards the datajack just an instant, "I like the planning stages the best. Seeing an impossible situation with gaping holes lacking protection and coming up with implementations of various security options to come up with a complete package. The real challenge is keeping it within budget of the client. You'd be amazed at how many 'fake' cameras or motion sensors are out there in the community to cover areas and appear functional to keep people out.. companies rarely budget what they should towards security." Nina raises her left hand to her forehead and rubs it slightly, her eyes briefly concealed by her hand as if massaging a light headache. . You start looking into the astral plane. Kale A human male of twenty-two years, he is in quite good health. Though obviously a drinker, it has some time yet before it catches up with him and causes any serious problems. Bright bands of azure blue amusement writhe through his aura, coiling around softer relaxed reds and pale yellows of assuredness. He obviously feels in control, and puts much as much emphasis on the way things are done, as what is being done. It is easy to tell that for him, style is everything. The colors in the viscinity of his head seem to be muted by cyberware, and there are obviuously bits of it running down his arms as well, though nothing particularly major. You return your attention to the physical world. The waiter approaches the table, a small basket of bread rolls balanced on a tray he holds. He sets them in front of Kale and Nina, look between them with a friendly smile. "Are the two of you ready to order, or do you need a few more minutes?" Nina Reynolds appologizes, "Oh dear.. I'm sorry.. I haven't had a chance to look at the menu yet.. what are your specials today?" The waiter nods smiling in understanding. "Tonight we have a delicious smoked real salmon, cooked in a light ginger sauce, and served over steamed rice. We also have a rack of lamb, which is wonderful, marinated for two days and lightly broiled to a golden brown." Nina Reynolds orders, "I would like the salmon please, that sounds delightful," her eyes looking over to Kale, lit with excitement at the chance to unwind and enjoy a night/morning out. Kale blinks, closing his mouth over what he was about to say, and smiles up at the waiter. "I'm not quite ready to order just yet. Could you please bring some melted Bree and a baguette as an appetizer?" He smiles up at the man winsomely. The waiter nods slightly, makes some notes about the salmon, and takes Nina's menu. "Certainly sir. That will be right out." He walks off to place Nina's order and to arrange the appetizer. Nina Reynolds's hand reaches out and snatches up a bread roll as the band finishes up their song and starts in on the next, a quiet and smooth rolling love ballad. As Nina butters her roll with the butter knife on the saucer with the fresh butter she talks with Kale quietly at their table, "Someone yesterday told me about this place in the matrix called the Shadowland Nexus..but he said its a difficult place to find.. have you ever heard about it?" Kale looks back to her, looking slightly perplexed for a moment, obviously trying to remember where the thread of conversation was. A slight look of concern crosses his face. "Are you alright? We don't have to stay, if your head is bothering you." He thinks about the question for a moment, then nods slightly. "Shadowlands, yes. Actually, I've been there. Quite the little community that is. And it's not as hard to find as all that... its just a matter of how badly you want to find it." Nina Reynolds looks a touch torn for a moment, her hand lowered about the time the waiter arrived , "Well.. that's part of the problem. This guy I was talking to was impressing upon me that there are people out there that would hire someone like me.. someone really trained in security systems and trained with testing those systems with magic and technical aspects.. sort of some freelance work is how he put it. But he was also impressing in me that its very very dangerous.. that people are out there that won't think twice about killing those around them and that life can get real dangerous in seconds. I'm curious to find work outside of the company if its possible, but then.. I don't want to get in bed with a group of murderers either.. if ya know what I mean?" Kale nods, his understanding written on his face. "I know what you mean. I do mostly freelance work out there on the 'trix. There are a lot of nasty characters out there, and you can never be too careful." He shrugs slightly. "I'm picky about people I work with, and spend my time with though. The way I see it, just cover your own back first and foremost, and you do alright." Nina Reynolds nods slowly and listens to Kale's advice, "That makes sense.. do you think this shadowland nexus though is a good place to start? To see what people post about.. what the people are like? I don't want to expose myself and end up getting blackmailed or something for just trying to find out information to decide what I want to do." Kale thinks about it carefully for a moment, then nods slowly. You paged Kobura with 'Ran into Kale in the hallway.. he asked me out.. we're in the Noir Days chatting about shadowland right now.'. From afar, Kobura nods. Shall I visit the ND as well ? Accidently of course :) You paged Kobura with 'Of course. :-)'. Kale thinks about it carefully for a moment, then nods slowly. "You should be ok out there. Especially if you're just reading, not posting. If you do decide to make a post of your own... you know, to feel out the waters, just be careful not to reveal anything personal, and you should be ok. I'm on there pretty regularly, so I can double check to see that you cover your tracks well enough too." He pauses for a moment, his face very serious as it he studies you for a moment, his eyes looking into yours. "I'll warn you in advance though. You will read posts for wetwork, breakins, datasteals, and all sorts of under the table things. If that's something you don't want to deal with..." he trails off. Kobura enters the club from the entrance way. Kale is sitting at the table by the stage with Nina, a serious look on his face and lost in conversation with her. He pays little attention to whatever else is going on in the room. There is a drink, virtually untouched sitting next to him, and he looks to the stage every now and then, listening to the music. A blond haired eurasian, dressed in a dark Vashion Island suit enters the club. Slowly he walks down the stairs and glances left and right to take a closer look at the milling crowd. He tousles his hair absently and finally starts to make his way over to the bar. At your table, Nina Reynolds listens carefully, "What is wetwork?" she asks simply, confused. Nina Reynolds is deep in conversation wtih Kale, not looking around much at all. A thick headed black drink rests in her hands in front of her on the table . Nina's menu is not at the table, but Kale has a menu before him with a drink before him . The two are speaking in a quiet and hushed tone near the band, a natural WNG of sorts as the band plays their current tune for the patrons in the early morning hours. At your table, Kale he leans closer, looking around to make sure no one is listening too closely. "Murder for hire." He leans back, a grim expression on his face. "As I said before, there are some very not nice people out there." He sips his drink, watching her for a reaction. Nina Reynolds'a eyes widen suddenly and she looks around and then looks back to Kale, shocked. The blond haired eurasian arrives at the bar and takes a seat at its far end. He puts his trenchcoat down on a stool next to him and orders something before he removes a small datapad and a few handwritten notes. He starts to work on the datapad and just looks up once as the bartender brings him a cup of soykaf. At your table, Nina Reynolds can't hide her surprise, "This sounds real bad.. but you say you go there a lot right? I don't have a datajack so I can't be quick and surf the trix as fast as you.. but maybe I can get a laptop or something or some virtual goggles and gloves and link up with you.. perhaps you could take me under your arm for a little while to make sure I stear clear of those bad sorts on there?" she pauses, "Of course.. maybe I could upgrade your maglock or something in your room in return?" Nina Reynolds leans in to chat with Kale further, asking him something it appears by her bodylanguage, her face looking as though she's asking a favor perhaps, hoping his answer will be yes. Kobura fills some soymilk into his soykaf and leans closer, staring at the blue gleaming screen of the datapad. That guy seems to work on something, probably a corp exec or something like that. At your table, Kale watches your face intently for a moment, then leans forward so his face is only a few inches from yours. "I could do that. I've got a vid-screen attatchment, but... Look, I'll be honest here." He looks around once quickly, then continues. "Not everything about my setup is exactly legal, nor are all the jobs I take. And you /do/ work for security. I'm sure you can see the dilema." Kale leans closer to Nina, his face close to hers, and says something in a low tone, his face anxious as he glances around the room slightly. His eyes stop on Kobura for a moment, before moving onward and falling once more on Nina's face. Nina Reynolds looks a bit perplexed for a moment, as if weighing in her mind if she should reveal a secret with the man before her or not.... At your table, Nina Reynolds considers the situation and then lowers her voice further, leaning so far forward that she has to move to Guiness so she doesn't put her chest in the thick head of the pint as she explains something, "It's hard for anyone to be completely 'legal' in this day and age. Everything it seems has a rule or a law governing it and I don't think its my place to be judging or ratting on people just trying to get along with their own lives in this world. I work for a security company which has obligations to contractural companies of which it offers its services towards. I'm not a police officer." she pauses and takes a deep breath, "Mind you.. as a mindful citizen if I see a murder committed I'm likely to call the anonymous tipsters line to report it.. but small things.. tresspassing, even minor theft I don't have an issue with. It's a personal decision everyone has to make how close they want to walk and try to stay on the straight and narrow under the searchlight of the laws and regulations of our society. Myself..." she pauses and glances around to make sure she's not being overheard, "I'll confide in you a small portion so you understand that you can be more comfortable in offering me your help.... I, on occasion.. .well... let's just say having access to security design schematics, notes and knowing a lot of people at corporate security locations offers a unique inside look at the weak points around valuable assets which can be.. well.. reloacted to someone willing to offer compensatory arrangements for... you understand?" Kale leans back after listening to Nina's whispered conversation for a minute, and slugs back a sip of his drink. Then he begins to speak to her. You paged (Kale, Kobura) with 'Okay.. Kale.. TN 9 sound fair? Hard but not insane?'. To (Nina Reynolds, Kobura), Kale pages: Sounds good by me. Kobura rolls 10 dice against a TN 9: 2 3 3 4 4 5 5 5 8 16 (1 success) You paged (Kale, Kobura) with 'Kale.. can you cut/paste our last two poses to him so I don't repeat them in my log?'. To (Nina Reynolds, Kale), Kobura pages: not necessarey Kale Im eavesdropping ;) Long distance to (Kale, Kobura): Nina Reynolds giggles. At your table, Kale sits back slowly, just watching you for a moment, listening to the music for a moment. He takes a swig of his Dirty Girl Scout, polishing off most of the glass quickly, then watches you for a second longer. A smile breaks out across his face, and he chuckles slightly. "You know, that's the sort of thing that will put a 'trix-head like myself out of business." He shakes his head then leans forward. "Alright then, that works out. I like you, I really do, so we'll see what we can get out of Shadowlands for you." At your table, Nina Reynolds leans back, her hands having cleanched on on her guiness out of unconcious tension during her conversation. Her face now looks more relieved as her little evil secret in her life is accepted by the decker and she continues to speak, "Who knows.. between the two of us perhaps we could offer a nice packet of information and/or services for sale.. under the right circumstances." At your table, Kale nods, smiling at the thought. He takes a quick sip letting the possibilities play out in his mind. "Actually, we could be quite the pair. I'm rather liking the possibilities my mind is coming up with." He grins suddenly, amusement and delight written all over his features. "This /has/ been a worthwhile date then hasn't it? I'd like to propose a toast." He raises his glass. "To our future, and whatever it may have in store for the both of us." The blond haired businessman leans over to grab his cup and sips on the soykaf. He swallows and seems to enjoy the taste of the coffee. For a moment he seems to look over to a certain table. A flat smile appears on his thin lips and a splitted reptiles tongue zips out between his lips for the 10th part of a second. An illusion maybe. At your table, Nina Reynolds raises her pint in turn, "I can drink to that.. to whatever comes our way.. and may it bring fat juicy credsticks." and then commences in the glass touch and puts the drink to her lips for a drink. Soon thereafter she lowers the guiness to the table and wipes away the heavy creamy froth from her upper lip.. and that is when the waiter returns with the appitizers and turns toward Kale to inquire as to his order. At your table, Kale polishes off his own drink, and grins up at the waiter, obviously still bubbly with the excitement of the past few minutes. "My good man, I would like a nice, juicy filet minion. Real, mind you, and a refill on my drink." He pauses for a moment, then shakes his head, "scratch that, make that a bottle of champagne. I feel like celebrating!" As the waiter moves off, to place the order, Kale grabs a slice of baguette and spreads the melted cheese on it. He turns the conversation to more mundane matters. "So have you been living in the Gateway for long?" At your table, Nina Reynolds bites off her dinner roll as Kale places his order, placing it down to wipe the corner of her mouth as the waiter moves off with Kales order and the conversation returns headlong again, "I've been living there for about five years.. I moved in when I was 23.. or there abouts I think." She looks up and over as if thinking and then spots Kobura for the first time and quickly turns her head back to Kale, looking like a cornered rabbit just a touch. Jenny enters the club from the entrance way. Kale is sitting at the table near the stage in conversation with Nina and munching on an appetizer. He appears quite happy about something, and there is an empty glass next to him, formerly holding, you would assume, his drink. Nina Reynolds has a guiness on the table before her and is nibbling on a dinner roll as they are apparently waiting for their order to be prepared and delivered to them. They both appear in high spirits about some recent good news. Jenny bounces into the place and looks around. she moves across the floor staring at people. she soon ends up near the counter smiling at the bartender. At your table, Kale catches the look, and the smile drops from his face. "What is it?" He looks around quickly, trying to seem as inconspicuous as he does so as possible. "What did you see?" A blond haired businessman sits at the far end of the bar and seems to work on a datapad and glances over to a few handwritten notes. Sometimes he sips on his soykaf. At your table, Nina Reynolds says "Rolling willpower" Nina Reynolds rolls 6 dice for Kobura and Kale: 2 2 2 4 5 11 At your table, Nina Reynolds manages to get herself under control and appears calm once more, as if a cool breaze washed over her and calmed her right down, "Remember when I spoke to you outside about not accepting your offered arm?" At your table, Kale raises an eyebrow curiously, "Yes, of course... Did I say something wrong that brought it back to you?" He looks very worried at the prospect The waiter returns to the table where Nina and Kale sit, setting down two empty glasses and a bottle of champagne, which Kale ignores for the moment. At your table, Nina Reynolds shakes her head just every so slightly, "No.. the man of which I spoke which freaked me out is at the bar... he's the one that was assuring that I understood that if I got into.. um.. 'dark' type work as he called it.. that it would be exstreamly dangerous. He's the one that made me realize how dangerous it truely is.. for he had my arm and we were but two paces from a dark alley.. and I know he could have taken me and killed me as if by a whim.. a certain power can be felt within him.. a strength and a confidence of someone with great ability." And for some reason, far away at the end of the bar a blond haired eurasian starts to smile flatly. He doesnt look up of course, his work seems to be almost finished and he grabs his cup again, sipping on it slowly. He tilts his head and seems to be very satisfied. At your table, Kale narrows his eyes slightly, and glances towards the bar, his face taking on a smile and looking casual as if he's merely looking. "Which one is it?" This is said under his breath. Jenny climbs up towards the double brass doors and makes her way out to the entrance way. Jenny has left. At your table, Nina Reynolds doesn't look, but offers a motion to Kale to look at the floor between their table and the stage, where a small area is hidden and quiet private from others viewing. Nina concentrates but a moment and then a 1:10 scale Noir Day's bar materializes in an illusion on the floor beside their table
